Gugulethu Sofia Mbatha more known by her stage name and screen name Gugu Mbatha Raw. Gugu became famous due to her appearance in the BBC Science Fiction TV show Doctor Who. Gugu was a huge success on the show, as she played Tish Jones. Tish is the sister of Martha Jones. Gugu was a lively, spontaneous personality that was greatly appreciated by viewers. Handler was diagnosed with breast cancer in the year 1989. Handler is a Reform Jew Her father was Jewish. Handler was blessed with a joyful, healthy childhood living in a safe neighborhood. When she was only 19, she decided to move in Los Angeles and pursue acting. Handler was forced to become an actress to survive. Handler's ability to write stories came into play when she reached the age of 21. Handler then decided to dedicate her entire career to stand-up comedy. Handler's first job was as an actress on a cast of all females on the Oxygen channel's reality-TV show Girls acting badly. It was a combination of hidden cameras and practical comedy. The show was broadcast from 2002 to2005. Handler was a part of several shows, including Weekends at D.L. The Bernie Mac Show The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler appeared on The Tonight Show for a time as a reporter. Handler received her first big break when she hosted her E! Show in 2006. The show was called Chelsea Handler. It lasted two seasons. Handler performed at the Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour in the United States following the season. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend, HBO and Comedy Central have all broadcasted her stand-up show. In 2010 the MTV Video Music Awards 2010 were made public. With this, she became the first woman to host the VMA's, following Roseanne Barr.
